How to get to the Rold route in the Elden Ring?

1. Enter Lyndell, Royal Capital

I assume you’ve already arrived in Leyndell, the Royal Capital. If not, proceed to the Altus Plateau region’s northeast, where you will also find the Altus Plateau map. Next proceed to the train station, which is the pre-entrance to Leyndell, Royal Capital.

Why, you ask, do I need to Enter Lyndell? Because you can only advance after entering Lyndell. Don’t worry, I won’t take you through every dungeon, oath, and boss in Leyndell, which is required to enter the Rold Path.

When you approach the northeast corner of the map, you will come upon a Draconic tree sentinel guarding the entrance to Lyndell; kill him and go to the Capital Rampart site of grace.

You must proceed to East Capital Rampart from here. Simply take the lift and sprint along the corridor until you reach a deep chasm. Take it now; you’ve arrived at the East Capital Rampart.

2. Reach Avenue Balcony

After you exit the room, you will see the gorgeous golden city of Lyndell, complete with a massive dragon monument in the center. From there, turn left to meet a swarm of Oracle Envoy. These are white, silly Marshmellow adversaries with horn-like weapons that they blast to deliver bubble damage.

After passing through Oracle Envoy, you’ll come across a broken statue of an opponent stuck in the ground, guarding the entryway and spouting fire. While you and your partner are on the same platform, glance down to the right to see another platform where you can jump. Leap from the balcony to the golden rooftop.

Go to the northwest, jumping on the golden roof, until you reach the carriage just across from the chapel. Descend to the street and turn southwest. When a massive tree enemy descends from the sky, you know you’re on the correct track. The adversary resembles the next Erdtree Avatar with a golden weapon.

Don’t worry about the adversary; all you have to do is go through the right open gate down the stairs, and you’ll find a site of grace waiting for you. Now, this is the most significant site of grace because after defeating Morgott the Omen King, you must teleport to this site of grace, which is located in the Avenue Balcony.

3. Path to Godfrey

Now that you’ve arrived at Avenue Balcony, proceed down to discover an archer wielding a longbow. Defeat him and begin ascending the big dragon wing until you reach an aperture with a ladder to climb up.

After climbing the staircase, proceed to the opposite end of the corridor to find another location of grace. Grace may be found on the West Capital Rampart.

Don’t forget to enable the summoning pool because you’ll need it later to defeat a boss. Pick up the golden seed surrounded by Oracle Envoy and, if desired, defeat the huge Gargoyle to receive Gargoyle’s Halberd.

When you pass through Gargoyle, you may see a tree branch jutting out of the earth. Continue climbing the branch to the balcony, where you’ll meet the boss, Godfrey, First Elden Lord. He is Godfrey’s spirit, and conquering him will allow you to proceed to the next site. Here’s how you get rid of Godfrey.

4. Defeating Godfrey the First Elden Lord 

His strikes are powerful yet slow, giving you plenty of opportunity to avoid them. Remember his assault style because he swings his dual axe and slams the ground. He has a huge area of effect attack in which he stomps on the ground and raises stones from the earth. It’s easy to avoid this attack because he only needs a half-second to raise his legs and stomp on the ground.

This gives us a clear opportunity to avoid his stomp assault. Roll sideways since his stone spike has range and will catch you if you roll back. If you have utilized sprint tuning on your favorite summon, you can use it. Alternatively, you can utilize Greatshield Soldiers to distract Godfrey and strike from behind.

Keep an eye on your health, since his assaults can remove nearly half of it. When you defeat him, the fog will lift and you will be able to progress to the next level.

5. Path to Omen King and Defeating Him 

Remember, we’re here to get the Rold Medallion, which can only be obtained by fighting Morgott, the Omen King. Let’s go to the next site where you’ll meet this boss.

After defeating Godfrea, the fog will lift, revealing another area from the balcony with multiple dead finger maidens. Go to the right and climb the Erdtree roots that lead back to the room, but this time to the inner balcony.

Go past all the dead finger maidens into the Queen’s bed-chamber; you might want to rest before dealing with the assassin with the black dagger. You can either finish the Black Knife Assassin or proceed to the boss area after resting on the Queen’s Bedchamber site of grace.

His attacks are slightly delayed, which will cause you to dodge very quickly. He, like Margit, wields a magical hammer and sword, but his strikes are aggressive, and he can kill you if you get caught in one of his combinations. He also possesses a magical spear that he can throw from afar.

That was his initial phase. In his second phase, he will erupt a pool of magic that will drain your health, and he has now increased elemental damage that causes decay, bleeding and death. You must be cautious not to become entangled in the exploding magical flame.

After defeating him, a grace site will materialize in the center of the arena. This is where Melina hands you the Rold Medallion.

6. Reaching the Grand Lift of Rold

To uncover the Mountaintops of the Giants, you must activate the Rold Medallion in Rold’s Grand Lift. Teleport to the Avenue Balcony location of grace now that you have the Rold Medallion.

Go up the street from the grace place to meet the tree-looking big opponent. Pass him by and enter the large door at the end of the street. Continue climbing the steps until you reach a lift. When you ascend the lift, you will see a long bridge leading to another lift. This lift will take you down into the Forbidden Lands, where the site of grace is located at the entrance.

Snow and mist cover the forbidden lands, reducing visibility. If you believe you are lost, you might consult the map from time to time. You don’t want to confront the enemies here because they are quite powerful. Simply ride your horse across a limited platform until you reach the Black Blade Kindred Boss.

After you pass through the boss, there is a grace location nearby. After resting at the grace location, ascend the stairs and activate the Great Lift of Rold using the Rold Medallion. When engaged, the entire platform will rise, revealing the Giant Mountaintops.

Some refer to them as the Black Blade Kindred or Night’s Cavalry. All of this is visible from the stairs leading to the Great Lift.
